Dzmitry Alyaksandrovich Vasilyeu lives in a small European nation called Belarus, which was formerly known as the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic, or Byelorussia, which means "White Russia". It may surprise you to know that Belarus is located at Europe's geographical center. It has a rich history and cultural heritage that dates back to the 11th Century, with the first humans having arrived as early as 40,000 years ago. It's ironic that a country know to few, and isolated from the rest of the world, has produced some of the world's most brilliant and influential people - from statesmen to artists and athletes. Where do we go from here?
This isn't where we intended to be
We had it all, you believed in me
I believed in you
Certainties disappear
What do we do for our dream to survive?
How do we keep all our passions alive
As we used to do?
Deep in my heart I'm concealing
Things that I'm longing to say
Scared to confess what I'm feeling
Frightened you'll slip away
You must love me
You must love me
Why are you at my side?
How can I be any use to you now?
Give me a chance and I'll let you see how
Nothing has changed
Deep in my heart I'm concealing
Things that I'm longing to say
Scared to confess what I'm feeling
Frightened you'll slip away
You must love me
You must love me
You must love me

producer and co-founder of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Film Studios, was born in Vasilyeu's hometown of Minsk, Belarus. The famous and loved American composer and lyricist, Irving Berlin, who wrote "God Bless America" and "White Christmas, was born in Mogilev, Belarus. American-born actor and film producer, Kirk Douglas' parents were immigrants from Gomel, Belarus. Post-Impressionist artist, Marc Chagall was born in Vitebsk, Belarus. Yitzhak Shamir, Menachem Begin, and Shimon Perez - all Presidents or Prime Ministers of Israel - were born in Belarus. And finally, Olga Korbut, Maria Sharapova and Wayne Gretzky, who are well-known athletes, are from Belarus.
Vasilyeu is a highly creative individual. From childhood he studied music and foreign languages. He loves to read historical novels, engage in creative writing, and play acoustical guitar and piano. Several years ago he started teaching himself digital art and videography. Reading, observing people and taking walks in the woods, all inspire him to write his own lyrics to accompany his music. Music, in turn, puts him in touch with himself and other people.
"I hope my movie will grab the hearts of many people all over the world, revealing to them the harsh truth about the young 'sex slaves' of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine - our children!"
~Dzmitry Vasilyeu
Vasilyeu plans to produce Dimanasus Prophecy - a movie about love and human relationships tested by lives that encounter the world of human trafficking in eastern Europe. It will be Vasilyeu's first movie. The idea for the story grew out of Vasilyeu's own life experience in Belarus. He started writing his screenplay in 2005 because he hoped, through his movie, he would be able to
make a significant difference in helping to further expose the cancer of human trafficking to the rest of the world, and to get people to think about their relationships with each other.
Says Vasilyeu:
"En vino veritas."
"The human trafficking industry is flourishing. Daily it inflicts untold horrors upon upon young men and women, and boys and girls, in Eastern Europe. Over the years it has desensitized entire societies to the pain that its victims suffer day in and day out. It hardens affected societies, and and has a detrimental influence on their capacity to love.
"The story is about all of us. It's about who we really are as human beings. The movie will cause us to think about why we are so cruel to each other, and what love really means."
